RESOLUTION

     

           Whereas the fees for Engineering & Technological courses imparted in different Engineering and Technology Colleges of the States within the purview of the Department of Higher Education, including those in the private sector have been revised by the State Govt. in 2001-2002.

 

          Whereas, the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of education and another – Vs – State of Karnataka and others made the recommendation in consonance with direction made by the same Court in  TMA Pai Foundation Vs State of Karnataka & Others for the constitution of a fee structure committee for determination of the fee structure of the professional courses conducted in private self financing institutes of the State.

 

          Whereas, the question of revision/determination of fee structure for professional courses in private self financing institutes within the purview of Department of Higher Education has been under consideration of the State Government for some time past.

 

          Now, therefore, the Governor has been pleased to constitute a “Fee Structure Committee” with Hon'ble Justice Pradipta Ray, Judge, Calcutta High Court (Retired) as its Chairman, the composition of the said committee is as follows :

 

1)   The Hon’ble Justice Pradipta Ray (Retired),

Calcutta High Court                                             -  Chairman

 

2)   Prof. S. M. Chatterjee, Nominee of AICTE             -  Member

 

3)   A Chartered Accountant

    (to be nominated by the Chairman)                      -  Member

 

4)   One person of repute to be co-opted by the         -  Member

Committee 

 

5)   Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department,

Govt. of West Bengal                              -            Member -Secretary


 

 

 

2.           Terms of Reference of the Committee :

 

i)             To determine a suitable fee structure for the professional courses conducted in different private self financing institutes of the State within the purview of Department of Higher Education.

 

ii) Any other matter that may be referred to the Committee.

 

3.           The Committee may submit its recommendation to the State Govt. within a period of three months from the date of publication of this Resolution.

 

4.           The Committee will function from Bikash Bhawan, Salt Lake.

 

 

Ordered that a copy of the Resolution be communicated to the C & I Department for publishing  the same in the Calcutta Gazettee.
